When Che’ (the revolutionary) started his mo-bike journey across the Latin America, way back in the 60’s, little did he know that one day his travelogue on his 500cc Norton “La Poderosa – the powerful one” would become an international bestseller (“The Motorcycle Diaries”) and lay the foundation of his character for years to come, initiating within the revolutionary which eventually became the hero.
Maybe he knew little of the Himalayas – Maybe
Well to say for some part of this, Che and his bestseller have been an inspiration for unleashing “X’pression Himalaya”, there have been other provocations too (open roads, rock and roll, zen, rivers, blue skies) most of all the mighty Himalayas. It’s an image in the mind, which is embossed, a book which has been lived and an expression of self through experiencing the joy in beating the mundane. Being yourself outside what you have always dreamt.
The golden glow on the peaks, the photograph of that long road (where you’ve always longed to be), sitting by the river bank listening to the sound of the flowing water, the vrrooomph! Of the throttle of your bike being readied for a long journey, packing your bags, the wind caressing your cheeks and living your favorite song.
Yes, we know we can imagine that, and long for it. And our dreams never end like our explorations, and “Xpression Himalaya” is all bout self and our longing for it. The Himalayas, the winding roads, the song of the breeze, our bikes and us; It’s a journey into the rising sun, golden peaks, tread marks, dust and us.
We at Being Out There simply love sharing these experiences with you and invite you to join our team as we roll out our motorcycling trip into Ladakh. The long roads, high altitude lakes, the passes, the snowcapped precipices, the occasional marmots, the fellow riders, clear blue skies, the winds caressing your cheeks and more make this ride special. And as ‘Walt Whitman’ puts it – summing it up nicely – “Afoot and lighthearted I take to the open roads, Healthy and free, the world before me, The long brown path before me leading wherever I choose … Henceforth I ask not good fortune, I myself am good fortune …Strong and content I travel the open road.
