15 minutes walk to the Mall road from here, and you cover almost more than 1/4th of the charming heritage walk of Shimla. An ascent brings you to the Gorton castle (AG office), neighbor to the ‘dismantle-able‘ building of the Railway board. Nearby is the State bank of India building (1903 – Imperial bank building) and its top is blessed by the Kali bari temple. And as you’re walking by, the shops of the popular Mall road, come into your view.
Rohit’s Den, is run by Rohit (hehehe, obviously) and is probably one of the most cozy bed and breakfast establishments in Shimla. 2 rooms make up the apartment and both of them are well stocked with the basic amenities to make your stay hassle free (read unlimited cups of chai). There is ample parking space and the B&B is a 10 minutes drive from the railway station Shimla, with the new ISBT further at 10 minutes.
Rohit was once ‘Mr. Shimla’ and he knows his town, having been involved with various fitness, fashion and sports events in Shimla.
What not to miss – If you can convince him to consider hosting you with their home cooked food, which is love being served in dollops, a precious experience, made special by ‘Aunty’, his mother who makes this possible. And if you are not able to convince him, make it a point to insist upon the ‘special Garlic pickle’.
