Bang in the middle of Himachal’s apple country, highlighted by a huge egg shaped rock (hence the name) lies the effervescent village of Khara Pathar. 85 kms from Shimla it’s a very scenic drive to Khara Pathar. The energy of the place is invigorating and definitely, undoubtedly you will find yourself hopping to the numerous trails around, the prominent being the 7kms hike to Giri Ganga, the source of the Giri River, just below the towering Kuppar Peak. And then challenge yourself to the 4 hour climb to Kuppar, rewarded with expansive wide angle views of the Garhwal and the Kinnaur Himalayas.

DAY 01 (Sat)
Arrive in Shimla early morning and after freshening up and a hearty breakfast we mount our mountain bikes at Charabara (9kms from Shimla) and ride along the highway for a while before catching up with a country road leading us downhill towards Chailla. A highway winding its way through apple orchards leads us towards Khara Pathar from where the meadow of Giri Ganga is a 4kms offroad ride. Check into the camp.
DAY 02 (Sun)
A day of excitement as we head out after breakfast and start our hike to Kuppar Bugyal, through a dense forest of oak and pine. Once at the top we relax to our musings and hike back down to Giri Ganga. We just scaled the Kuppar Peak. Drive back to Shimla to catch the return Volvo to Delhi.
